Sharjah Team’s Groundbreaking Achievement

The INNOVISIONARIES were the only team from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to win an award this year. Their project focused on developing an educational plan to teach high school students about the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The team proposed integrating these goals into science lessons, covering important topics like weather, geology, and soil health. This innovative approach could help students understand real-world environmental issues engagingly and practically.

NASA Award Ceremony to Celebrate the Winners

To honor the winners, NASA has scheduled an official award ceremony on June 4, 2024, at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, USA. The event will recognize the hard work, dedication, and creativity of all ten global winning teams.

Encouraging Innovation in the UAE

Dr. Issa Al Bastaki, President of Dubai University, praised the efforts of the Sharjah team and highlighted how competitions like this play a crucial role in fostering innovation. He emphasized that the UAE is strongly committed to nurturing young talent and supporting creative ideas that contribute to technological advancements.

NASA Challenge and the UAE’s Participation

Engineer Tareq Salah Al-Din, CEO of GIE, also acknowledged the impact of the NASA Space Apps Challenge in driving innovation across all age groups. He mentioned that this year’s competition attracted 202 teams from various regions of the UAE, including Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman.

The success of the INNOVISIONARIES at such a prestigious event has not only brought pride to Sharjah and the UAE but has also inspired young minds to pursue innovation, technology, and scientific problem-solving on a global scale.
