In a major boost to Kerala’s economy, the UAE-based Sharaf Group has announced an investment of ₹5,000 crore in the state’s logistics and shipping industry. This decision marks an important step in Kerala’s efforts to attract more investments and improve its trade infrastructure.
The announcement was made on Saturday, 22 February, during the Invest Kerala Global Summit. Speaking at the event, Sarafudin Sharaf, Vice-Chairman of Sharaf Group, expressed confidence that this investment would help strengthen Kerala’s logistics sector. He highlighted that private sector participation is key to the state’s economic growth, and this move aligns with Kerala’s vision of expanding its trade and transport facilities.

Although exact locations for the investment were not revealed, sources indicate that the group is likely to focus on two key sites in Kerala for developing logistics and shipping operations.
Sharaf also appreciated the Kerala government’s efforts in organizing the Invest Kerala Global Summit, which has brought together major investors and industry leaders. He noted that Sharaf Group has been operating in India for over 20 years, with a strong presence in logistics, shipping, and railways across seven major cities.
He further emphasized that this new investment will help accelerate Kerala’s trade and transport sector, making it more efficient and globally competitive. The state has been actively working to attract new businesses, and Sharaf Group’s decision is expected to give a fresh boost to these efforts.
