A magnitude 3.3 earthquake was recorded in San Ramon, California, late on Monday night, according to data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The seismic event occurred at approximately 10:47 p.m. local time near Alcosta Boulevard and Canyon Hills Road, with a reported depth of around six miles.
Residents in nearby areas, including Pleasanton, Walnut Creek, and Danville, reported feeling light shaking, as recorded through the USGS “Did You Feel It” reporting system. The earthquake caused no immediate reports of damage or injuries, and authorities have not issued any warnings.
This latest quake comes shortly after a series of tremors struck the same area on November 9. On that day, eight earthquakes occurred within roughly three hours, the largest registering a magnitude of 3.8. The November 18 event follows the same local fault lines, indicating ongoing minor seismic activity in the San Ramon region.
Experts note that earthquakes of this magnitude are common in Northern California and are usually minor, producing minimal ground shaking. Shallow quakes, such as this one, can be felt over a wider area but rarely cause significant damage. The USGS continues to monitor the area and encourages residents to remain aware of standard earthquake preparedness measures.
Local authorities confirmed that no emergency response was necessary and emphasized that minor quakes like these are typical for the region, which lies near several active fault lines.
This incident highlights the ongoing seismic activity in the East Bay area, reminding residents of the importance of earthquake safety planning and readiness.
