The year 2025 has marked a pivotal moment for Indian cinema. As part of its annual overview, IMDb recently revealed that Saiyaara, featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has taken the title of the most popular Indian film. Produced by YRF and helmed by Mohit Suri, the movie has received international praise for its engaging narrative and hit soundtrack.
IMDb's rankings, derived from page views by more than 250 million monthly global visitors, reflect what captivates audiences in films and series.
Following Saiyaara, the animated feature Mahavatar Narsimha secured the second position, with Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava in third. Kantara: A Legend by Rishab Shetty came in fourth. Other notable films in the top 10 include Rajinikanth's Coolie, the Tamil film Dragon, Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par, Shahid Kapoor's Deva, Ajay Devgn's Raid 2, and the Malayalam feature Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.
In the realm of web series, Aryan Khan's The Ba***ds of Bollywood clinched the top spot. Aryan remarked, "Being number one feels just right. It signifies that the series extends beyond a mere weekend watch, embedding itself in cultural discussions."
The second position was taken by Vikramaditya Motwane’s Black Warrant, followed by Paatal Lok Season 2 in third. Fan favorites such as Panchayat Season 4, Mandala Murders, Khauf, Special Ops Season 2, and Khakee: The Bengal Chapter rounded out the rankings, with crime thrillers predominantly leading the pack.
Yaminie Patodia, Head of IMDb India, noted that this year's selections underscore remarkable creativity across diverse languages and formats in Indian filmmaking.
