Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended the closing session of the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2025. The keynote speech was delivered by His Highness Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

The session, titled Humankind: The Core of Civilisation and Pioneer of the Future, was held on the final day of the summit, which focused on Shaping Future Governments.

Commitment to Promises

During his speech, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed highlighted the UAE's strong dedication to fulfilling its commitments. He reminded everyone that the country was built on the promises made by its founding leaders, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

"Our leaders promised that the UAE would become a strong nation, and today, we are among the safest countries in the world. We are leading in areas like business, economic stability, and even the strength of our passport, which has ranked among the best for years," Sheikh Saif said.

He also spoke about President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s leadership, saying: "Credibility is built when promises are kept. This is what makes the UAE stand out."

Sheikh Saif praised Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision, which has helped the UAE grow into a major global hub for artificial intelligence. He shared that in the past seven years, the country has attracted more than $135 billion in foreign investments and now ranks fifth worldwide in AI development.

Investing in the Future

Sheikh Saif stressed that the UAE is committed to preparing for the future by investing in human talent and new technology. He encouraged Emirati youth to work hard to maintain and grow the achievements of the nation.

"The sacrifices made by our past leaders were not just for today but for future generations. It is up to young people to continue this journey and build a better tomorrow," he said.

Humanitarian Efforts for Gaza

Sheikh Saif also highlighted the UAE’s humanitarian work, particularly its fast response to the crisis in Gaza. Under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the country launched Operation Gallant Knight 3, one of the biggest relief missions in the region.

He revealed that the UAE has provided over AED 800 million in aid to Gaza, making up 42% of total international support. Since its founding, the UAE has invested more than AED 360 billion in humanitarian initiatives worldwide.

Learning from History

Reflecting on history, Sheikh Saif shared lessons from past civilizations. He explained that during the Umayyad and Abbasid periods, rulers did not destroy existing cultures but instead embraced knowledge and talent from different backgrounds.

However, he warned that internal divisions led to the fall of great civilizations, like Al Andalus. He reminded everyone that unity and strong leadership are necessary to maintain progress.

Impact of Technology

Sheikh Saif also spoke about how technology is shaping the world. He compared modern digital advancements to nuclear weapons in terms of power and influence.

He explained that during the Industrial Revolution, competition shifted from wars to businesses and markets. Today, a single company can lose $500 billion in one day, showing how quickly economies can change.

"In the past, we were just pearl traders. But today, thanks to our leadership’s focus on education and innovation, we are leading in many global rankings," he said.

Special Gift for Attendees

At the end of the session, Sheikh Saif presented copies of Reflections on Happiness and Positivity, a book by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to all attendees.
