Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has entered into a partnership with Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Group to introduce advanced air-to-water dispensers at rest areas designated for delivery riders. This collaboration marks the first phase of their joint initiative aimed at improving the welfare and safety of delivery bike drivers across Dubai.
Under the agreement, Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA's Licensing Agency, and Ali Al-Abdullah, Managing Director of Government Affairs & Corporate Real Estate at Majid Al Futtaim, finalized plans to install three air-to-water dispensers. These dispensers utilize cutting-edge technology to convert atmospheric humidity into clean, drinkable water. Operating optimally at 30 degrees Celsius and 65% humidity, each unit can produce approximately 100 litres of water daily.

"This partnership underscores RTA’s commitment to fostering collaborations with the private sector to enhance the safety and convenience of transportation services in Dubai," stated Abdullah Yousef Al Ali. "It reflects Majid Al Futtaim Group's dedication to social responsibility, offering a sustainable solution that not only ensures delivery bike drivers have access to safe drinking water but also contributes to reducing our environmental impact."
The initiative aligns with RTA's broader strategy to establish 40 air-conditioned rest areas specifically designed for delivery riders. These facilities aim to regulate and elevate standards within the rapidly expanding delivery sector while prioritizing the well-being of its workforce. Several rest areas have already been completed as part of this endeavor, with the remainder scheduled for construction in subsequent phases.
RTA expressed gratitude for Majid Al Futtaim's proactive role in enhancing the quality of life for delivery drivers who often work long hours outdoors. The provision of safe drinking water is seen as essential to maintaining the health and vitality of these essential workers, contributing to a safer and more sustainable urban environment in Dubai.
