Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has made it clear that he intends to end his NFL career as a member of the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers spent 18 years with the Packers, shaping his career and earning his place among the NFL’s elite. He expressed gratitude for his time in Green Bay, emphasizing the lasting relationships he has maintained there.
Drafted in the first round by Green Bay in 2005, Rodgers led the Packers to a Super Bowl victory following the 2010 season. Over nearly two decades, he became the team’s face and achieved numerous milestones, including four MVP awards. He considers Green Bay as the heart of his career and plans to retire wearing the Packers’ colors.
After the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets ahead of the 2023 season, his career faced setbacks, including a torn Achilles tendon in the season opener, which sidelined him for the remainder of the year. He returned for a modest 2024 season with the Jets before signing with the Steelers in 2025. Pittsburgh currently holds a 4-2 record as it prepares to face Green Bay.
Rodgers emphasized that he holds no ill will toward the Packers organization. “I don’t have any animosity toward the organization,” he said. He acknowledged that his final season in Green Bay did not end as ideally as hoped, but he values the strong relationships he continues to have with staff and teammates. The upcoming Sunday Night Football matchup is an opportunity to reconnect, not seek revenge.
This season, Rodgers leads the NFL in the percentage of passes resulting in touchdowns at 8.1%, totaling 14 TD passes and five interceptions. He has completed 68.6% of his passes for 1,270 yards. Over his career, Rodgers ranks fourth in NFL history with 517 touchdown passes, fifth with 64,222 passing yards, sixth with 5,487 completions, and seventh with 8,417 pass attempts.
Rodgers has previously indicated that the 2025 season will be his final year in the NFL. Despite his move to Pittsburgh, he plans to conclude his career with the Packers, honoring the team that defined his legacy. He remains focused on performing at a high level for the remainder of the season while cherishing his connections to Green Bay.
Aaron Rodgers’ NFL journey is nearing its end, but his ties to Green Bay remain strong. While he competes with the Steelers, his retirement will reflect the team and city where he built his legendary career, leaving a lasting legacy in professional football.
