Blue Jays manager John Schneider has introduced optimism about Bo Bichette’s potential availability for the World Series, starting with Game 1 on Friday. Bichette, one of Toronto’s key offensive players, could play a significant role if he is cleared to return. Schneider noted that the team is carefully monitoring his readiness while considering how best to use him in the lineup.

After the Blue Jays’ Game 7 victory in the ALCS, Bichette expressed his determination to be on the World Series roster. While he was only a passing consideration in the previous two series, Schneider confirmed that Bichette’s option to play is becoming more serious as the team approaches the championship games.

Schneider emphasized that Bichette is realistic about his current condition and how he may perform if he returns. “I think just in conversations with Bo, he’s pretty realistic about how he feels and how he will feel if he’s out there,” Schneider said. The manager highlighted the importance of listening to the player and trusting his judgment regarding readiness.

Deciding where Bichette will play in the World Series is still under review. Schneider noted that playing Bichette at second base could be “a little bit of a leap,” and the team is weighing options to ensure he has the best chance to succeed. Discussions will continue after Bichette completes a workout to gauge his comfort level and readiness for high-pressure play.

At 27, Bichette is a two-time All-Star and has spent all seven of his major league seasons with Toronto. In 2025, he posted a batting average of .311, an on-base percentage of .357, a slugging percentage of .483, with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs over 139 games. His performance has made him a central figure in the Blue Jays’ offense.

Over his career, Bichette has maintained a .294 batting average, a .337 on-base percentage, and a .469 slugging percentage. He has accumulated 111 home runs and 437 RBIs in 748 games. His experience and consistent production make him a valuable asset as Toronto prepares for the World Series.

Schneider indicated that the final decision on Bichette’s participation will come after observing his workout and assessing his comfort and readiness. “We’re kind of coming right down to the wire with it,” Schneider said, emphasizing that the team will make the best decision to balance player safety with the chance to maximize the team’s performance in the championship.

If cleared to play, Bichette could have a significant impact on the Blue Jays’ lineup. Schneider is considering multiple scenarios to determine where Bichette can contribute most effectively, ensuring the team has the best chance of success in the World Series while safeguarding the player’s health and performance.
