H.E. Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, Director General of RAKTA, emphasized that the launch of “Sayr” represents a significant step forward in the transformation of public transport in Ras Al Khaimah. The platform brings together different modes of transit—such as public buses, ride-sharing services, and electric scooters/bikes—into one unified interface, providing users with the ability to plan, book, and complete their trips with ease. Al Blooshi highlighted that “Sayr” currently covers all intercity bus routes within and beyond Ras Al Khaimah, with plans for future expansion to include vehicle rental services.
The core concept behind MaaS, as explained by Al Blooshi, revolves around three main elements: services, mobility solutions, and integration. Through the platform, users are offered dynamic and flexible options for planning their routes, choosing transportation modes, and handling fare payments. By simplifying travel logistics, “Sayr” helps to save time, reduce costs, and enhance the overall user experience.
Al Blooshi also pointed out that MaaS is the future of urban mobility. It offers a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional private vehicle use, while contributing to the reduction of traffic congestion, pollution, and transportation costs. The “Sayr” platform, designed with user convenience in mind, boasts a simple and intuitive interface that allows users to easily browse information, plan trips, and make payments seamlessly.
RAKTA’s efforts are focused on delivering world-class transport services and creating new, innovative models to serve Ras Al Khaimah's residents, citizens, and visitors. By integrating various transport modes in a user-friendly app, “Sayr” seeks to improve mobility options for the people of Ras Al Khaimah, encouraging a shift towards sustainable and efficient travel.
In terms of functionality, “Sayr” allows users to plan their journeys by entering a starting point and destination, offering several options to choose the most efficient and cost-effective transport mode. The platform also supports advance booking, live route tracking, and access to real-time schedule information. Additionally, secure electronic payment methods, including credit cards and digital wallets, are incorporated into the app to provide a smooth and secure payment experience for users.
Looking ahead, RAKTA plans to further enhance the "Sayr" platform with additional features. These will include a loyalty points program where users can earn and redeem rewards, as well as a live chat service to provide instant assistance, further improving the app’s functionality and customer service.
The “Sayr” app is available for download on both the App Store and Google Play, making it accessible to all smartphone users in Ras Al Khaimah, setting the stage for a new era in public transport across the emirate.
