Actor Rajat Bedi, who recently appeared in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Ba**ds of Bollywood, has opened up about the challenges and setbacks in his career and how they have contributed to his growth as an actor.
Speaking exclusively about his journey, Bedi recalled the numerous ups and downs he has faced in the industry, including missed opportunities and roles that didn’t materialize. One such instance involved the Salman Khan-starrer Radhe.
Salman Khan’s Gesture Made a Difference
Rajat shared that he had received a call from Salman Khan’s office for a role in Radhe. However, when Salman Khan personally saw him on set during a song shoot, he told Bedi, “You are not going to do it. I will give you something better.” Bedi expressed gratitude for Salman’s decision, which he believes prevented him from taking on a role that didn’t align with his personality or potential.
“This gesture really touched me. It made me realize that sometimes setbacks are blessings in disguise,” Bedi remarked.
Hardships During Covid-19 and New Opportunities
Bedi also spoke about how the Covid-19 pandemic impacted the film industry and delayed opportunities. “Meanwhile, Covid-19 happened, and later Aryan's offer came in December 2022. The journey started again,” he said. He reflected on how enduring these challenges ultimately helped him grow stronger as an actor.
Turning Real-Life Experiences Into Performance
The actor emphasized that real-life struggles have shaped his acting skills. “I have faced a lot of hardships in my journey. The real-life situations that I have gone through have somehow made me a better performer and actor. That pain I have expressed through my work in the show,” he explained.
The Ba**ds of Bollywood marks the directorial debut of Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan. The film has received attention for its storytelling and performances, with Rajat Bedi’s journey in the project highlighting his resilience and dedication to his craft.
