Pope Francis remains in critical condition as doctors monitor his health closely. On Sunday, the Vatican confirmed that blood tests showed early signs of kidney failure. However, despite his illness, the 88-year-old Pope is still alert, responding well, and even attended Mass. He has been battling pneumonia along with a serious lung infection, making his condition even more complicated.
In an update, Vatican officials stated that Pope Francis had not suffered any more breathing difficulties since Saturday night. Although he is still receiving high levels of oxygen support, his condition appears stable. Doctors also noted mild kidney failure, but they assured that it was being controlled with medical care.

Due to the complexity of his illness and the need to wait for treatments to take full effect, doctors are being very cautious about his recovery. They have not given any clear predictions about his health, as his situation remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, prayers and messages of support have been pouring in from around the world. People in his home country, Argentina, religious leaders from Cairo, and even schoolchildren in Rome have been sending their best wishes for his recovery.
In New York, Cardinal Timothy Dolan acknowledged the seriousness of Pope Francis’ condition. Speaking at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, he expressed the shared concern of the Catholic community. “We are gathered as if at the bedside of a father who is gravely ill,” he said. However, he later told reporters that he still hoped and prayed for Pope Francis to recover.
Medical experts have warned that his situation is unpredictable, given his age, weak health, and pre-existing lung problems. His current condition has also led to discussions about what would happen if he becomes unconscious or too unwell to continue leading the Church. Some are even speculating whether he might step down if his health worsens.
For now, the world watches and prays, hoping that Pope Francis can regain his strength and continue his work as the leader of the Catholic Church.
