Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has announced the arrest of a terrorist group linked to Hezbollah, following detailed security monitoring and surveillance operations across the country.
According to a statement released through the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), authorities uncovered an organised plan aimed at destabilising security in Kuwait and recruiting individuals to join the banned group.
The arrested cell included 16 individuals—14 Kuwaiti nationals and two Lebanese nationals. Investigations revealed that the group planned activities that could threaten Kuwait’s sovereignty, spread chaos, and disrupt public order, posing a serious risk to national security and public safety.
After receiving legal approval from the Public Prosecution, security forces carried out raids and seized multiple items from the suspects. These included firearms, ammunition, a weapon designed for assassinations, drones, encrypted Morse communication devices, maps, narcotic substances, cash, and materials linked to terrorist organisations such as flags and images. Training-related weapons were also recovered.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are still ongoing. All suspects are being processed under legal procedures before being referred to the competent Public Prosecution. Security agencies are also continuing efforts to track down any additional individuals connected to the network.
The Ministry of Interior stressed that Kuwait’s security and sovereignty are a “red line” and warned that any cooperation with terrorist groups, including financial or logistical support, will face strict legal action. Officials also stated there will be zero tolerance for any activity that threatens the country’s stability.
