Pope Francis had a quiet and peaceful night in the hospital, the Vatican said on Sunday. The Vatican also shared that the 88-year-old Pope is getting better as he continues treatment for pneumonia.
"The night was calm, and the Pope is resting," the Vatican shared in a short update about his health. Pope Francis has been staying in a special room at Gemelli Hospital in Rome since February 14.
Over the past few weeks, he has had several breathing problems while in the hospital. However, for the last few days, he has not faced any new issues. The Vatican described his current condition as "stable," meaning it is not getting worse.

On Saturday, the Vatican said that the Pope is responding well to treatment. His health is slowly improving, though the progress is small.
Doctors said that Pope Francis does not have a fever at the moment, which is a good sign. However, they want to observe his health for a few more days before making any predictions about when he will fully recover.
Pope Francis has faced several health problems in recent years. In 2021, he had surgery on his colon, and in 2023, he underwent another operation for a hernia. However, this hospital stay is the longest and most serious one since he became Pope.
Normally, when he stays at Gemelli Hospital, Pope Francis appears on the hospital’s balcony on Sundays to give his weekly Angelus prayer. But in the last three weeks, he has not been able to do so. He is expected to miss it again this Sunday.
On Saturday, the Vatican press office said that, just like the past few weeks, the Angelus prayer will be shared as a letter at noon instead of the Pope delivering it in person.
Many people around the world are praying for Pope Francis to recover soon.
