PM Narendra Modi recently inaugurated Terminal-3 at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, alongside five other airports across Uttar Pradesh in Aligarh, Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, Moradabad, and Shravasti. During the inauguration, PM Modi emphasized the importance of strengthening tier 2 and tier 3 cities, ensuring urbanization progresses evenly. Shravasti Airport, integral to the Buddha circuit, received a significant boost with its 2B VFR (visual flight rules) license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Feb 2. This license allows for commercial operations of smaller 19-seater aircraft, enabling daily flights between these districts and Lucknow. Additionally, Chitrakoot and Aligarh airports also obtained VFR licenses, while Moradabad and Azamgarh airports were licensed for commercial operations in November under the regional connectivity UDAN scheme. The VFR license stipulates clear visibility for aircraft landing up to 550 meters.
Notably, Lucknow Airport's Terminal 3 is poised to accommodate 8 million passengers annually, with a peak-hour capacity of 4000 passengers, indicating significant strides in enhancing air travel infrastructure and connectivity across Uttar Pradesh.
