A tragic plane crash occurred on Monday when an aircraft plunged into the sea shortly after taking off from Roatan Island, located just off the coast of Honduras. The accident claimed the lives of at least seven people.

Authorities reported that 10 people were rescued from the crash site. Sadly, six of them were pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital. Later, the body of a crew member was discovered floating in the sea near the wreckage, bringing the confirmed death toll to seven.

The aircraft, a Jetstream model, was operated by the Honduran airline Lanhsa. It was carrying a total of 17 people, including three crew members. The plane was en route to La Ceiba airport on the Honduran mainland when the accident happened.

The police chief of Roatan Island, Lisandro Muñoz, spoke to local media and confirmed that the plane crashed into the water shortly after takeoff. He mentioned that rescue operations were challenging because the wreckage had fallen into the sea, making recovery efforts difficult.

Among the passengers on board were a U.S. national, a French national, and two minors. The country's transport minister provided details about the aircraft and passengers but did not immediately confirm the total number of fatalities.

Videos of the crash have been circulating widely on social media, showing the shocking aftermath of the accident.

Another Aviation Incident in the U.S.

Meanwhile, in the United States, another aviation mishap occurred, though this time with no injuries reported. A Delta Airlines regional jet struck the runway at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Sunday night while attempting a go-around maneuver.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the left wing of Endeavor Air Flight 4814 made contact with the runway at around 10:10 p.m. EDT. The pilot had initiated a go-around because the plane's approach was unstable.

The FAA assured that they would investigate the incident to determine what went wrong. Delta Airlines confirmed that the flight had taken off from Jacksonville, Florida, and was carrying 76 passengers along with four crew members.

The airline further stated that the crew followed standard procedures to execute a go-around safely. Despite the wing hitting the runway, the aircraft landed without further issues and reached its assigned gate.

Both incidents highlight the challenges and risks involved in air travel, reminding authorities and airlines of the importance of strict safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
