The Oman Poetry Festival returns for its 13th edition from December 14 to 18, 2025, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. Held in the theatre of the Ministry of Information in Muscat, the event promises to gather premier Omani poets alongside notable guests from the Arab world. This year’s agenda is packed with workshops, poetry evenings, and various cultural activities aimed at elevating literary arts and fortifying regional cultural connections.
Participation will unfold in two primary formats: some poets will be welcomed by the organizers, while others will advance through a competitive selection process. In an effort to be inclusive, poets from all ages are invited to participate. Additionally, there will be an open segment for poets to showcase their work together, offering both seasoned and emerging voices a chance to shine in Omani poetry.
Among the highlights of the 2025 festival will be the acknowledgment of four distinguished poets who have profoundly impacted Omani literature and culture. Honorees will include Salim bin Ali Al Kalbani, a classical poetry giant; Hamoud bin Sulaiman Al Hajri, known for his popular poetry; the late Mohammed bin Issa Al Harthi; and Hilala bint Khalifa Al Hamdani, both of whom have left indelible marks on the literary landscape.
Beyond celebrating poetry, the festival underscores the significance of preserving Omani literary traditions. Attendees will enjoy a vibrant array of performances, insights from established poets, and engaging discussions addressing the evolution of Arab poetry. By uniting poets of various generations, the Oman Poetry Festival 2025 reinforces the nation's dedication to nurturing literary talent and cultivating an eclectic cultural community. This edition is poised to attract considerable public interest, further solidifying Oman’s reputation as a center for arts and culture.
