The movie stars actors like Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Ariana Greenblatt, Rosamund Pike, and Morgan Freeman. They filmed scenes at well-known places like Yas Island, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Bridge, and the beautiful Liwa desert. Fans will be able to spot these landmarks in the film when it releases later this year. Some of the spots filmed include CLYMB, Ferrari World on Yas Island, Yas Marina Circuit, W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island, and several streets in Abu Dhabi where action-packed scenes were shot.
The film also gave a chance to six local young filmmakers from the UAE. These interns, who were part of the Creative Media Authority’s (CMA) talent program, learned hands-on while working with 175 local crew members. They got to see how a major movie is made and applied the skills they learned in training.
Matt Leonetti, who works for Lionsgate, said, “The Now You See Me movies always take people on exciting journeys around the world, and this movie is no different. Abu Dhabi’s famous places and its wonderful people will help make this movie even more enjoyable for audiences everywhere.”
Mohamed Dobay, Acting General Director of CMA, said, “We’re happy to have been a key place for the Now You See Me: Now You Don’t film. The team finished filming in just 13 days, and they used some of Abu Dhabi’s best locations. They also received support from the Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s rebate program. We are proud of the local crew and young interns who were part of this project. We’re excited to see how Abu Dhabi looks in the movie when it comes out this November.”
Liam Findlay, CEO of Miral Destinations, which managed some of the film’s locations, added, “We’re proud to work with big films like this. It shows how Yas Island is becoming a top place for entertainment. Our close work with the Abu Dhabi Film Commission and other partners helped give the film access to some of the best spots in the city.”
The movie is set to release in November and has received help from the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, which gave advice and a cashback rebate. The director, Ruben Fleischer, has worked on big hits like Zombieland and Venom. The film's story was written by Seth Grahame-Smith, Michael Lesslie, Paul Wernick, and Rhett Reese, and produced by Bobby Cohen, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci.
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is one of over 180 films that have been shot in Abu Dhabi in recent years. The city offers amazing locations, skilled workers, great facilities, and a generous 35%+ cashback rebate, making it a popular choice for filmmakers. Along with this movie, Abu Dhabi has hosted films like Dune, Sonic the Hedgehog, 6 Underground, War Machine, and many films from the Mission: Impossible, Star Wars, and Fast and Furious series.
