Nose Pin Helps Police Solve Delhi Woman’s Murder Case

Post by: Layla Badr

A small nose pin turned out to be an important clue in solving the case of a woman found dead in a drain in Delhi nearly a month ago. The police have arrested Anil Kumar, a businessman and the woman's husband of 20 years, as they suspect he killed her and dumped her body.

On March 15, the police found a woman's body wrapped in a bedsheet, tied to a stone, and placed in a cement sack in a drain in Delhi. At first, the police couldn't identify her, but they found a nose pin on her that helped solve the mystery.

The nose pin led the police to a jewelry store in South Delhi, where they checked the store’s records. They found that the nose pin had been bought by Anil Kumar, a property dealer from Delhi, and the bill was in his name. The woman was then identified as Seema Singh, who was 47 years old.

When the police spoke to Mr. Kumar, he told them that Seema had gone to Vrindavan and did not have her phone with her. This made the police suspicious. They decided to ask more questions and found a new clue when they went to his office in Dwarka. In a diary, they found his mother-in-law’s phone number. When they contacted Seema’s family, her sister Babita told the police that they hadn’t heard from Seema since March 11. They were worried, but Mr. Kumar had been telling them that Seema was in Jaipur and wasn’t ready to talk to anyone. He promised he would make her talk once she felt better.

For days, Mr. Kumar continued to assure the family that Seema would be okay and that they should wait. But on April 1, Seema’s family was called to identify a woman’s body. Sadly, they found out it was Seema. A day later, her son also confirmed that it was his mother’s body. The post-mortem report revealed that Seema had been strangled to death. The family also told the police that only Mr. Kumar and Seema had the keys to their house in Dwarka.

The police arrested Anil Kumar and his guard, Shiv Shankar, as they believed both were involved in the crime.
