The NBA has officially signed an 11-year media rights deal with Disney, NBC, and Amazon Prime Video, following its decision to reject Warner Bros. Discovery’s (WBD) $1.8 billion annual offer. This new agreement, which will bring the league around $76 billion over the contract period, was approved by the NBA’s Board of Governors last week.

Warner Bros. Discovery had a five-day window to match part of the new deals but was deemed not to have made a valid offer by the NBA. As a result, the upcoming 2024-25 season will be the final one for TNT, which has broadcast NBA games for nearly 40 years. WBD has expressed its intention to take legal action, arguing that the NBA misinterpreted its contractual rights.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver praised the new arrangement, highlighting how Amazon Prime Video’s substantial subscriber base will enhance the league’s global reach. The deal with Amazon includes Friday night games, select Saturday afternoon games, and Thursday night doubleheaders. Additionally, Prime Video will manage the NBA League Pass package.
TNT, part of Warner Bros. Discovery, has strongly contested the NBA’s decision, emphasizing its continued commitment to fans and its extensive coverage of the league.
The NBA's new media package with Disney and NBCUniversal includes ESPN/ABC maintaining its role with top-tier games and the NBA Finals. NBC, returning as a broadcast network partner, will air up to 100 regular-season games and will also cover the All-Star Game. The deal represents the first time the NBA will have two broadcast network partners.
NBC and Amazon will share coverage of one of the conference finals series in alternating years, beginning with NBC in 2026-27.
The NBA and its partners are committed to enhancing the fan experience through these new media arrangements, with substantial investments in promoting the league and expanding accessibility.
