Mubadala backs UAE orphan fund with AED100 million

Mubadala Investment Company has contributed AED100 million to support the Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans initiative, launched by Endowments and Minors’ Funds Authority – Awqaf Abu Dhabi under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The initiative aims to create a sustainable funding source dedicated to supporting orphan care across the UAE. It focuses on building long-term financial stability through an approved waqf (endowment) system, ensuring continuous support for children in need.

Mubadala’s contribution highlights its commitment to national initiatives that deliver lasting social impact. The fund is designed to improve the quality of life for orphans by supporting their education, healthcare, and essential living needs, while also promoting social inclusion.

The initiative works by transforming community contributions into sustainable investment assets. These assets generate ongoing returns, which are then used to provide consistent support for orphans across the country.

Speaking on the contribution, Homaid Al Shimmari, Deputy Group CEO and Chief Corporate and Human Capital Officer at Mubadala, said the company remains dedicated to supporting programs that create long-term social value.

Aligned with the UAE’s Year of Family goals, the initiative reflects the country’s strong values of generosity and community support. It also reinforces the role of national institutions in driving humanitarian efforts and strengthening social cohesion.
