His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, led a special event where three new judges joined the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts. He is the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, and the President of DIFC. The three judges who joined the DIFC Courts are Thomas Bathurst, Sapna Jhangiani, and Roger Stewart. They will work in the Court of Appeal, which handles important cases. During the event, the judges made a promise to do their work honestly and fairly. They said they are very thankful for this chance to work in Dubai and to help the legal system.
Many important people came to the event to show their support. These included His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who is the Chairman of Dubai Airports and Emirates Airlines. His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Chairman of Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council, was also there. Other important guests included Essa Kazim, the Governor of DIFC, Justice Wayne Stewart Martin, the Chief Justice of DIFC Courts, and Justice Omar Al Mheiri, the Director of DIFC Courts.
