His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended the Government of Dubai Media Office’s (GDMO) annual Ramadan media gathering.
The event brought together Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, along with well-known media figures and leaders from local, regional, and international media outlets.
Media’s Important Role in Society
Speaking at the event, His Highness stressed the vital role of media in building strong, stable, and successful societies. He said that media organisations do more than just report the news—they help people understand what is happening around them and how it affects their lives. By sharing accurate information, media outlets strengthen public awareness and help societies respond positively to change.

His Highness explained that media plays a major role in shaping the future by upholding truth, accuracy, and fairness. He pointed out that responsible media can promote creativity, spread positivity, and help build a better tomorrow.
Celebrating UAE’s Progress
Sheikh Mohammed also praised the UAE’s media sector for its efforts in documenting the country’s incredible progress over the past 50 years. He said that media platforms have helped showcase the nation’s growth in different fields, highlighting the achievements of Emirati talents who have earned global recognition.
Investing in the Next Generation of Media Professionals
His Highness called on UAE media leaders to invest in technology and human talent to strengthen their organisations. He encouraged them to adopt new methods, stay ahead of trends, and raise their standards to set new benchmarks in the industry.
Sheikh Mohammed also stressed the importance of training young Emirati media professionals who can compete with the best in the world. He said they should not only follow global media trends but also be capable of creating their own, helping position the UAE as a leader in the media industry.

His Highness highlighted that Dubai is not just a city with leading media organisations—it is also a hub for creativity and innovation. He pointed out that Dubai is working towards becoming the top destination for media professionals and creative talent.
During the gathering, Sheikh Mohammed interacted with prominent Arab and international media leaders, well-known writers, influencers, and content creators.

Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, and Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, said that the event reflected Sheikh Mohammed’s dedication to staying connected with the media sector.
