His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, shared Iftar with national service recruits at the Sweihan Training Centre in Abu Dhabi today. The event was also attended by Major General Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, along with several senior officers and officials.

Sheikh Hamdan’s visit during the Holy Month of Ramadan comes as part of the ‘Year of Community’, which was announced by the UAE leadership. This initiative aims to strengthen national unity and promote a deeper sense of belonging and responsibility, especially among the country’s youth.

During the visit, Sheikh Hamdan praised the recruits for their discipline, dedication, and strong work ethic. He highlighted the importance of national service, describing it as a vital part of the country’s defence system. He explained that this service not only strengthens the UAE’s security but also teaches young people important values such as loyalty, sacrifice, and patriotism—values that are deeply rooted in the UAE Armed Forces.

He stressed that serving the nation requires selflessness and dedication, with a willingness to put the country’s interests above all else. He said he was proud of the UAE youth for their strong sense of patriotism, discipline, and commitment. He added that their dedication plays a key role in protecting the UAE’s achievements and ensuring that the country’s flag continues to fly high with pride.

At the end of the gathering, Sheikh Hamdan wished the recruits success in their training and future roles. He expressed confidence in their ability to serve the nation with distinction, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

The event reflected the UAE’s deep appreciation for the courage and sacrifice of its young people, who are dedicated to defending and building a stronger and more united nation.
