The Miss Universe Organisation has released an important health update regarding Miss Jamaica Universe 2025, Dr Gabrielle Henry, following her troubling accident on stage during the Miss Universe competition. The organisation firmly denied any accusations of holding her responsible for the incident.
On November 19, 2025, Dr Gabrielle Henry experienced a terrifying fall during the preliminary round while making her way across the stage. The decline led to serious injuries, including an intracranial haemorrhage, loss of consciousness, facial lacerations, fractures, and additional medical issues.
Following the incident, tensions rose when Miss Haiti, Melissa Sapini, alleged that the Miss Universe Organisation had placed blame on Miss Jamaica for the mishap. These statements incited controversy and vibrant discussions across social media platforms.
On December 8, the Miss Universe Organisation, in collaboration with Miss Jamaica's family, published a joint statement aimed at clearing up any misunderstandings. They indicated that Dr Henry is making a steady recovery and receiving specialized medical care. Furthermore, she is set to return to Jamaica under comprehensive medical supervision, with arrangements for her immediate transfer to a hospital for ongoing treatment.
The organisation emphasized that Dr Henry was not at fault for the incident, labeling any media narratives that suggested otherwise as incorrect and misleading. They reaffirmed their unwavering support for her and clarified that they never implicated her.
Additionally, the Miss Universe Organisation assured that they have taken full responsibility for Dr Henry's medical expenses and living costs in Thailand. They also covered accommodation and expenses for her mother and sister, allowing them to be close by during her recovery.
In a heartfelt message shared through the official Miss Universe Jamaica account, Dr Henry expressed her anticipation of returning home and reuniting with her supporters, offering them comfort during this challenging time.
This incident has further fueled discussions regarding the ongoing controversies surrounding this year's Miss Universe pageant. While such events are typically associated with glamour and festivity, it has underscored the critical importance of contestant safety, care, and respect.
This situation serves as a reminder of the responsibility large organizations hold in safeguarding participants and ensuring clear communication through crises. The Miss Universe Organisation's efforts to clarify the situation represent a move towards reinstating trust and mitigating misinformation.
At its core, this narrative serves to highlight human compassion. Dr Gabrielle Henry is more than a titleholder; she is an individual confronting significant health challenges. Her safety and recovery must be of utmost priority.
As she progresses in her healing journey, the public looks forward to a future where beauty competitions prioritize not only performance but also the health and dignity of every competitor.
