On Friday, Netflix broke records as nearly 60 million households around the world watched the big boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. The fight was so popular that at one point, 65 million people were watching it at the same time. This made it one of the most-watched live events ever on Netflix.
The excitement wasn’t just about Tyson and Paul. The co-main event, which was a fight between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor, also attracted 50 million more viewers. Netflix said this might be "the most-watched professional women’s sporting event in U.S. history." To make sure even more people could watch, Netflix worked with Joe Hands Promotion to show the event in over 6,000 bars and restaurants across the U.S. This set a new record for how many places could broadcast a combat sports event at once.
The hype for the Tyson vs. Paul fight grew even bigger when Tyson slapped Paul during the weigh-in earlier in the day. Tyson said Paul stepped on his foot by accident, but Tyson didn’t seem to believe it. He said, "I was in my socks, and he had on shoes. I want to think it happened by accident, but now I think it may have happened on purpose." This added more drama to the match and made people even more excited to watch.

Even though the event was a huge success, it wasn’t perfect. Many viewers reported problems with the stream, like buffering and freezing, which made it hard for some people to watch the event without interruptions.
The fight also set a new record for money made. It earned over $18 million in ticket sales, which is double the previous record for combat sports events held outside Las Vegas. On social media, the fight became the main topic of conversation. The hashtag #PaulTyson was trending worldwide on X (formerly known as Twitter), and #Serrano was being talked about in many countries too.
Even though there were some problems with streaming, the Tyson vs. Paul fight was still a huge success for Netflix. It broke records for how many people watched and how much money it made. It became one of the biggest sports events in recent history.
