Liverpool won 4-0 against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield and reached the League Cup final. They had lost the first match 1-0, but this big win helped them finish with a 4-1 score overall. Tottenham had many injured players, and Liverpool took full advantage of that.

Liverpool started strong and scored their first goal in the 34th minute. Mohamed Salah passed the ball to Cody Gakpo, who kicked it into the net with his right foot. In the second half, Liverpool got a penalty when Tottenham's goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky tripped Darwin Nunez inside the box. Salah took the penalty and shot the ball high into the net in the 51st minute, making it 2-0.
Tottenham could not fight back, and Liverpool kept attacking. Dominik Szoboszlai scored the third goal, and Virgil van Dijk added the fourth with a header. The home crowd cheered loudly as Liverpool played with full control.
Newcastle United won their match against Arsenal the day before, reaching the final as well. They won 2-0 in that match and 4-0 overall. The final will be played on March 16. This will be Newcastle’s second final in three years, while Liverpool will play their 15th League Cup final.
Cody Gakpo was happy after the match and said, "The stadium gave us a lot of energy. We knew we had to win, and we did our best. We created many chances, and we won in the end."
This final will be Liverpool manager Arne Slot’s first in English football since he replaced Jurgen Klopp last season. Liverpool still have a chance to win four trophies this season. They are leading the Premier League, they have reached the Champions League round of 16, and they are also playing in the FA Cup.
For Tottenham, this loss was very painful. Their manager, Ange Postecoglou, always talks about winning trophies in his second season at a club, but now he has only two chances left—the Europa League and FA Cup. To make things worse, their striker Richarlison got injured just before halftime. This forced them to bring in new player Mathys Tel, who had just joined from Bayern Munich. It was a very hard game for him, as Tottenham struggled throughout the match.
Liverpool could have scored even more goals. Gakpo hit the goalpost once, and Ryan Gravenberch also hit the post later. Tottenham did not get a single shot on target. They have not won any trophies since 2008, when they won the League Cup. Their record at Anfield is also very bad, as they have won only once in their last 28 games there since 1999.
