Bronny James, who celebrated his 20th birthday on Sunday, entered the game in the second quarter while LeBron, who is gearing up for his 22nd season in the league, was already on the court. The crowd erupted with cheers, recognizing the significance of the moment as both father and son shared the court for the first time in an official NBA game.

In his initial minutes on the court alongside his father, Bronny experienced some typical rookie challenges, committing two turnovers in his first two minutes. After making a pass to Bronny, LeBron set a screen for his son, but Bronny later missed a three-point attempt in the second quarter.

LeBron had an impressive performance, scoring 19 points, grabbing five rebounds, and providing four assists in just 16 minutes of play. In contrast, Bronny had a quieter outing, finishing with no points in 13 minutes, along with two rebounds and four turnovers, contributing to the Lakers’ 118-114 loss against the Suns.

Earlier in the week, Bronny made his professional debut on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he scored one point from six attempts and recorded three blocks in 16 minutes of action. LeBron sat out that game to focus on preparing for the upcoming season.

Bronny was selected by the Lakers as the 55th overall pick in the second round of this year’s NBA draft after playing one season at Southern California. His journey to the league was not without obstacles; he suffered a cardiac arrest during a workout in July 2023 but was subsequently cleared to return to the court. Throughout his collegiate season, Bronny averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists over 25 games, six of which he started.
