Kraken Triumph 3-2 in Overtime Against Kings with Power-Play Heroics

In a thrilling encounter on Wednesday night, the Seattle Kraken overcame a six-game losing streak by defeating the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 in overtime. Vince Dunn netted the game-winning goal just 1:21 into the extra period, capitalizing on a power play to secure a vital home victory for the Kraken. Jared McCann and Matty Beniers also contributed goals, while goalie Joey Daccord recorded 24 saves to seal the win. The Kings saw scoring from Alex Laferriere and Kevin Fiala, but Anton Forsberg's 30 saves were not enough to maintain the lead.

Seattle tied the game dramatically with a late equalizer from Beniers, who scored with only 24.8 seconds remaining in regulation during a power play. McCann was tripped by Forsberg, leading to the penalty, and Eeli Tolvanen set up Beniers, who scored with a clever redirection over the goalie’s shoulder.

In overtime, an early tripping penalty against Adrian Kempe gave Seattle another power play opportunity at 1:05. They quickly capitalized, as Tolvanen assisted Dunn, who unleashed a powerful slap shot from the right faceoff circle, clinching the win for the Kraken.

After Quinton Byfield broke his stick and rushed to the bench, Dunn capitalized and passed to McCann, who rocketed a one-timer into the net. However, shortly after, a turnover allowed Laferriere to score a short-handed goal, tying things up at 1-1.

Earlier that day, the Kraken placed rookie forward Berkly Catton on injured reserve due to a right hand injury sustained while blocking a shot in their previous game against Detroit. Seattle is now looking to build on this win and adjust to Catton's absence.
