The airport was also known for its excellent operations in 2024. It had a strong record of flights leaving on time, with 86% of departures happening as scheduled. This was possible because the airport made several improvements, including adding 15 new airline partners, opening five new duty-free shops, and adding 29 new stores for passengers. These changes helped make the airport more comfortable and offered services like pharmacies, lounges, cafes, and restaurants.
The airport also had a day of record-breaking traffic on August 1, 2024, when more than 131,000 passengers passed through its terminals. This was the busiest day in the airport's history. Another important achievement came on June 13, when the airport handled 903 flights, showing how well it can manage a large number of flights.
In total, King Khalid International Airport handled 269,000 flights in 2024, connecting Riyadh to 113 cities in Saudi Arabia and around the world. This makes the airport a very important link for travelers and helps connect Saudi Arabia to many different places.
Ayman Abdul-Aziz AboAbah, CEO of Riyadh Airports Company, said that these accomplishments show how much the airport is growing. He pointed out that the airport plays a key role in helping Riyadh and the whole Kingdom reach their goals, making it an important part of Saudi Arabia’s economy and connections to the world.
King Khalid International Airport's success in 2024 shows how much it has improved and how important it is for both the city of Riyadh and Saudi Arabia's future.
