The OCR Tigers Challenge took place in Khorfakkan on Saturday, bringing together more than 5,000 people, including racers and supporters. This big event, organized by the is now the biggest obstacle race in the UAE. People of all ages and fitness levels joined the race, enjoying the cool morning air and the beautiful scenery of Khorfakkan, known as the Bride of the East Coast.

The race had different categories. Adults competed in either a 4-kilometer or 8-kilometer race, while children ran 600 meters or 1200 meters. The race tracks were filled with exciting challenges, where participants had to climb walls, crawl under barbed wire, swing on ropes, and run on rough paths. The event was divided into two main groups: adults and children, with the youngest participants being just four years old.
There were cash prizes for winners in the 8-kilometer category. The first-place winners in both the men's and women's divisions received $2,000, while second-place winners got $1,000, and third-place winners took home $500. In the 4-kilometer race, the first-place winners got $750, the second-place winners received $500, and the third-place winners won $250.
HE Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of SGMB, said that the race was part of Sharjah’s efforts to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle. He was happy to see so many people taking part in the event. He also said that races like this help people test their strength, stay fit, and feel proud of their achievements. The event was not just about winning; it was also about bringing the community together and inspiring people to take care of their health.
People who came to watch and race praised the event organizers for their efforts. They appreciated the well-planned race tracks and the excellent arrangements made for racers of all skill levels. Many said the event was exciting and well-organized.
The event was supported by several government and private organizations, including Sharjah Police General Command, Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, Khorfakkan Hospital, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, Zulal Water Factory, Sharjah Social Services Department, Khorfakkan City Municipality, Khorfakkan Club, Bee’ah Group, Sharjah Sports Council, University of Sharjah, Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, and Oceanic Hotel.
The adult races had different difficulty levels. The first category included a 4-kilometer race with 15 obstacles and an 8-kilometer race with 20 obstacles. There was also a 400-meter race with 10 obstacles to test speed and strength. The children’s race had two categories: a 600-meter race for kids aged 4 to 6 years and a 1200-meter race for those aged 7 to 14 years.
Khorfakkan, located on Sharjah’s east coast, is famous for its natural beauty, cool weather, and many tourist spots. The city has stunning beaches, mountains, and valleys, making it a perfect place for adventure sports. The OCR Tigers Challenge has made Khorfakkan even more popular as a great place for sports lovers. Many people enjoyed the race and are looking forward to more events like this in the future.
