Former US President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, according to an announcement made by his office on Sunday. The statement shared that the cancer is serious, with a Gleason score of 9, which is considered Grade Group 5—one of the most severe types. The cancer has spread to his bones, but doctors said it seems to be hormone-sensitive, which means there are effective treatments available. The Biden family is now discussing the best options for his treatment.

People from all sides of politics in the United States came forward to wish the 82-year-old leader a quick and full recovery. Both Democrats and Republicans shared messages of support on social media.

Former President Donald Trump, who has often criticized Biden in the past, shared a message on his Truth Social platform. He wrote, “Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden's recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”

Former President Barack Obama, who worked closely with Biden when he served as Vice President, also sent his prayers. On X (formerly Twitter), Obama posted, “Michelle and I are thinking of the entire Biden family. Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe, and I am certain he will fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace. We pray for a fast and full recovery.”

Biden has been active in cancer research and awareness, especially after his son Beau Biden died of brain cancer in 2015. That loss led him to start the Cancer Moonshot initiative, which focuses on reducing cancer deaths and helping people affected by the disease.

Vice President Kamala Harris, who became the Democratic nominee after Biden dropped out of last year’s presidential election, also shared her thoughts. She said she and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were deeply saddened by the news.

“Joe is a fighter—and I know he will face this challenge with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership. We are hopeful for a full and speedy recovery,” Harris said on X. “We are keeping him, Dr. Biden, and their entire family in our hearts and prayers during this time.”

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton shared kind words as well. She said, “I'm thinking of the Bidens as they take on cancer, a disease they've
