Actor Jacob Elordi has gained strong attention for his role as Frankenstein’s Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s new film. To bring the character to life, Elordi went through a long and detailed transformation process. Netflix shared behind-the-scenes video showing how the actor spent almost 10 hours in a makeup chair, while artists carefully added prosthetics to his face and body.
Elordi was chosen for the role nine weeks before filming started. The film’s team first approached actor Andrew Garfield, but he stepped away, and Elordi took on the part. According to the makeup department head Mike Hill, Elordi’s height of 6 feet 5 made him a good fit for the character. However, Hill explained that it was not only about appearance. He said that Elordi brought depth and emotion to the role, which made the creature feel real and human on screen.
The transformation process was extremely detailed. There were around 42 prosthetic pieces used to create the full creature look, including 14 pieces only for the head and neck. The prosthetics were placed like a puzzle, covering the actor’s skin to give a lifelike effect. Removing the makeup also took almost 9 hours, and the team used a special inflatable sauna in Elordi’s trailer to help loosen the materials from his body.
The movie follows the classic Frankenstein story. It is a mix of horror and science fiction. The story shows how a talented, yet proud scientist brings a creature to life through his experiments. However, his creation becomes dangerous and leads to tragedy and chaos. The new film focuses not only on terror but also on emotional themes like loneliness, identity, and humanity.
The cast includes Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and Charles Dance. The film has received praise from both critics and viewers. Many people are calling it one of Guillermo del Toro’s best works, especially admiring Jacob Elordi’s strong performance and dedication.
