Iran has lifted the ban on WhatsApp and Google Play Store, allowing people to use these apps again. This decision is a big step in reducing internet restrictions in the country. For many years, people in Iran could not access major apps and platforms because of strict rules. The ban was removed after a meeting with top government leaders and members of the Supreme Council. They discussed the country’s internet policies and decided to make changes.

Sattar Hashemi, the Minister of Information and Communications Technology, shared this news online. He said, “Today, we started to reduce internet limits by working together. I thank the President, media, and everyone who helped. We need to stay united to continue this progress.” His message gave hope that more changes might happen in the future.
In the past, Iran blocked apps like WhatsApp to encourage people to use local apps instead. But now the government has changed its plans. This decision also fulfills a promise made by President Masoud Pezeshkian during his election campaign. He had promised to make the internet more open for everyone.
The government said this is only the first step. While they will bring back global apps like WhatsApp, they will also keep supporting Iranian-made apps. They believe this will create a balance between freedom and control on the internet.
Many people and businesses in Iran are happy with this decision. WhatsApp is very popular for communication and work. Still, it’s not clear what other changes will happen next. For now, lifting the ban is seen as a positive move that will help both the people and the country’s economy.
