OpenAI is getting ready to bring out GPT-4.5, and many signs show that it will come very soon. Some users of ChatGPT saw a message asking them to try the "GPT-4.5 research preview." This made people excited and wonder when it will be fully ready. A tech website, BleepingComputer, said that the message also told users, "Pro users now have access to our newest, largest model." But when users clicked on it, nothing new appeared, which means OpenAI is still working on the final steps before everyone can use it.

A software engineer, Tibor Blaho, found something interesting in the ChatGPT beta app on Android. He shared a picture of the app’s code, which had the name GPT-4.5 in it. This happened after OpenAI’s boss, Sam Altman, said the company would be more open about its future plans. Earlier, he had shared that GPT-4.5 would be released in a few weeks, and GPT-5 would come a few months later.
Reports say that GPT-4.5 has a secret name, "Orion." Sam Altman said that this will be the last model without smart reasoning skills. This means that the next versions will be even better at solving hard problems. At first, GPT-4.5 will only be given to ChatGPT Pro users. This is a special plan that costs $200 per month and lets users try the newest AI models before others. It is not clear if ChatGPT Plus users, who pay less money, will also get GPT-4.5.
OpenAI is also trying to make its AI models simple. Many users were confused because the company had different versions, like GPT-4o, GPT-40, and others such as o1, o3-mini, and o3-mini-high. Now, OpenAI plans to put all updates in one place so that people do not get confused about which model they are using.
GPT-4.5 is coming at a time when OpenAI has tough competition. Other companies are also working fast to make better AI. Elon Musk’s company, xAI, has introduced Grok 3, and a company from China called DeepSeek is making its own smart AI models. These companies are growing fast, so OpenAI needs to move quickly to stay on top.
Sam Altman also said that GPT-5 will be free for everyone when it is released. Because of this, some people think that OpenAI may also make GPT-4.5 free in the future so that more people keep using its AI.
