Five people sadly lost their lives on Saturday when two helicopters crashed in the air near Eura Airport in southwest Finland. The crash happened just after midday close to the town of Kauttua. The remains of the helicopters were found about 700 meters from Ohikulkutie road in a thick forest area.
Detective Chief Inspector Johannes Siirilä from the National Bureau of Investigation confirmed, “Five people have died in a helicopter accident near Eura Airport on Saturday.”
Police said that, based on flight records, there were two people in one helicopter and three in the other. Both helicopters were not registered in Finland. One was registered in Estonia and the other in Austria.

A report from Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR), quoting the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, said that both helicopters were owned by Estonian companies. One was owned by a company called NOBE and the other by Eleon.
The two helicopters were flying to a hobby flying event, as shared by the Pori Aviation Club.
The National Bureau of Investigation is now leading a joint check with the local police. Both Finnish and Estonian teams are working together to find out what caused the crash.
This sad event has shocked the flying community. More facts will be shared as the inquiry moves forward.
