Fans Share Their Love and Memories
Many fans of Felix Baumgartner have shared their sadness and love under his recent social media posts. One of his last posts was a video where he was seen working on the motor of his paraglider. This shows that he loved his work and was always taking care of his equipment.
Another recent post showed a photo of a windsock full of air against a cloudy sky. He had written “too much wind” on that post. This shows that he was very careful about weather conditions while flying.
Why Was Felix Baumgartner Famous?
Felix Baumgartner was not just any skydiver. People called him “Fearless Felix” because he never showed fear in any of his extreme stunts. He became world-famous in 2012 when he jumped from a balloon at the edge of space. This was the highest-ever skydive in history. He jumped from a height of more than 39 kilometres or 128,000 feet up in the stratosphere.
During that jump, he also broke the sound barrier with his body. This means he fell so fast that he travelled faster than the speed of sound. It was a record-breaking event that millions of people watched live. After the jump, Felix said at the press conference: “When I was standing there on top of the world, you become so humble. You don’t think about breaking records anymore, you don’t think about gaining scientific data – the only thing that you want is to come back alive.”
This shows that even though he loved breaking records, at that moment, his main wish was to land safely and see his family and friends again.
Other Amazing Records by Felix
Felix did many other daring stunts in his life:
1999: He made the world’s lowest base jump from the hand of the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This statue is 30 meters or 98 feet high.
1999: In the same year, he set the record for the highest parachute jump by jumping from the top of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
2003: He flew across the English Channel using a specially-made jumpsuit with carbon-fibre wings. This suit allowed him to glide in the air like a bird. He also carried an oxygen tank and a parachute for safety during landing.
What Was Felix Baumgartner Like as a Person?
People who knew Felix described him as brave, focused, and passionate about everything he did. He always prepared for his jumps and flights with great care and attention to detail. He was known for testing his equipment, checking weather conditions, and making sure everything was safe before he attempted his daring flights.
His friends, family, and fans admired him for his courage and dedication. Many people who dreamt of becoming skydivers looked up to him as their hero.
What Is Motorised Paragliding?
Motorised paragliding is also known as powered paragliding or paramotoring. It is a type of flying where the pilot wears a motor on their back that helps them take off from the ground and fly like a bird. It is considered an extreme sport, but when done with proper safety measures, many people enjoy it as a hobby.
Felix loved flying in all forms, and motorised paragliding was one of his favourite activities. He often shared photos and videos of his flights on social media, inspiring others to chase their dreams in the sky.
His Final Flight and The Unanswered Questions
Even though Felix was very experienced, sometimes sudden medical problems can happen to anyone, anytime. The mayor of Porto Sant'Elpidio said that reports suggest Felix might have suffered such a problem during his flight. However, there is no confirmed reason yet for his fall. Authorities are investigating to find out what exactly happened.
