Abu Dhabi is known as one of the safest cities in the world. It has been number one in the safety list by Numbeo for nine years in a row. This new system will make it even better. The news was shared during the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai.
The face recognition system will help hotels check who the guests are by looking at their faces. This will make the check-in very quick and easy. The system was made possible through a deal between DCT Abu Dhabi and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP).
Mr. Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, who leads the tourism team at DCT Abu Dhabi, said, “We are using this smart tool to make our visitors’ stay better and safer. We are working with hotels and other groups to give each guest a smooth and secure visit.”
This is the first time the government in Abu Dhabi is using this kind of face system with hotels. Right now, only a few hotels are trying it out. But soon, it will be used in all five-star hotels in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. Later, four-star hotels will get it, and then all other hotels will follow.
DCT Abu Dhabi is helping hotels get ready by giving them help, training, and all the details they need. The goal is to make sure everything runs well when the system starts.
When guests arrive, the system will scan their faces. It will match their face with data from ICP to check who they are. All the information is kept safe, following strict UAE rules. The data will only be used to keep guests safe and make hotel work easier.
This new plan is part of a bigger project between DCT Abu Dhabi and ICP. They are working together on many things like testing new ideas, protecting guest data, and making sure their systems work well together. The goal is to make Abu Dhabi’s tourism stronger, faster, and more modern.
This smart move shows that Abu Dhabi cares about giving visitors the best and safest experience, from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave.
