Beto scored the first goal in the 42nd minute. He got a pass from Harrison Armstrong, went past the goalkeeper, and put the ball in the net. This gave Everton a 1-0 lead.
Later in the game, in the 98th minute, Ndiaye made it 2-0 by scoring a penalty. Jarrad Branthwaite was fouled in the penalty box, and Ndiaye calmly kicked the ball into the net.
After the match, Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines were named the temporary managers for Everton.
There was concern for Everton when their player, Armando Broja, hurt his ankle. He had to leave the field on a stretcher and was treated for the injury.
Peterborough, a team from a lower league, almost scored in the first half when Cian Hayes shot, but Branthwaite cleared the ball off the line. Beto’s goal gave Everton some peace of mind.
In the second half, Everton missed a chance to score when Nathan Patterson passed to Idrissa Gueye, but Gueye shot the ball over the crossbar.
Broja’s injury caused a long delay in the match, which stopped Peterborough from fighting back. Ndiaye’s penalty made sure Everton stayed in control and moved to the next round of the FA Cup.
Also, in the match, Everton’s Ashley Young played in the second half. His son, Tyler Young, was on the Peterborough bench, but they did not play against each other.
In other games, Fulham won 4-1 against Watford with goals from Rodrigo Muniz, Raul Jimenez, Joachim Andersen, and Timothy Castagne. Cardiff City won 1-0 against Sheffield United with a goal from Cian Ashford.
