Etihad Airways has announced that it will add 28 new wide-body planes from Boeing to its fleet. This is part of the airline’s long-term plan to double in size by the year 2030. Since 2023, Etihad has been slowly and steadily growing its fleet to match its future goals.

The new order includes a mix of Boeing 787 and the newer 777X aircraft. These planes will be powered by GE engines and will also come with a support and service package. The new planes are expected to start joining the Etihad fleet from the year 2028. They will help the airline improve how it connects to other places, work more efficiently, and give passengers a better flying experience.

Etihad’s CEO, Antonoaldo Neves, said, “This decision shows that we are carefully managing our fleet and growing at a pace that matches demand and our long-term plans. We’ve been adding new planes since 2023, and this latest step helps us prepare for what we’ll need in the future.”

Right now, Etihad is working on a detailed plan for its future that will guide the airline until 2035. The new Boeing planes will be an important part of that plan. They will help the airline keep giving great service to its passengers and also remain strong as a business.

Neves also said, “This step also shows that Abu Dhabi is still investing in aviation, which is important for connecting people, boosting tourism, and supporting trade. As Etihad grows, it also helps create more opportunities for the UAE and other countries.”
