Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, and Air Europa, a leading Spanish airline, are planning to form a closer partnership. This collaboration will help both airlines offer more travel options, better services, and more value to their passengers. The goal is to improve commercial and operational connections between the two airlines.
Starting in the summer of 2025, Etihad Airways will increase its flights to Air Europa’s hub in Madrid, operating twice daily. This change will make it easier for passengers to travel between Abu Dhabi and Spain, offering more seamless connections.

This new partnership will also improve travel between Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia. It aims to create smoother travel options across these regions, making it easier for passengers to reach their destinations.
Arik De, the Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer of Etihad Airways, said that the airlines are in talks to expand their partnership. This could include more codeshare agreements and a deeper relationship between their frequent flyer programs. They are also considering having an Air Europa plane operate between Madrid and Abu Dhabi, which would increase travel choices.
“Any partnership we form will focus on benefiting our passengers,” said Arik De. “It will also make sure that our customers have a smooth travel experience and better access to both our networks, including Air Europa’s extensive network in Latin America.”
Richard Clark, Air Europa's General Manager, also shared his excitement about the partnership. He said that expanding operations between Madrid and Abu Dhabi will make it easier for passengers to connect between the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas through Europe. This partnership will also allow both airlines to provide top-quality service to their customers.
Etihad and Air Europa already have a partnership that includes codesharing and allows frequent flyer members of both airlines to earn and use miles on each other’s flights. This new step will further strengthen Air Europa’s presence in the Middle East and Asia. By using Etihad’s Abu Dhabi hub, they will provide more options for their passengers to travel between these important regions.
With this new partnership, Etihad and Air Europa are looking forward to offering even better travel experiences and more options for their passengers.
