Emirates Unveils Major Cabin Upgrades for A380 & 777 Fleet

Emirates is set to transform the flying experience on its A380 and Boeing 777 fleets, with 60 A380s and 51 777s scheduled for a major cabin retrofit starting August 2026. The programme introduces the latest seating designs, upgraded Wi-Fi with Starlink, and a next-generation immersive entertainment system.

Business Class Redefined

Passengers flying Business Class can expect a fresh level of comfort and privacy with seats inspired by the airline’s A350 S Lounge design. Each seat now offers wireless charging, customizable lighting, in-seat minibar amenities, and multiple device charging options. A 4K ice entertainment system adds a cinematic touch, making long-haul travel more enjoyable.

Premium Economy and Economy Enhancements

Emirates’ Premium Economy will feature Recaro’s advanced mechanical recline seats with integrated leg rests, adjustable headrests, and side cocktail tables, combining value and luxury. Economy Class travelers benefit from lightweight Safran Z400 seats designed for long-haul comfort, featuring adjustable eight-way headrests and practical tech enhancements.

Next-Generation Entertainment and Connectivity

The retrofitted aircraft will receive Panasonic’s Astrova in-flight entertainment system, offering 4K OLED HDR10+ displays and Spatial Audio for immersive sound. The system integrates with Emirates’ Skywards program to provide personalized content suggestions, while powerful USB-C charging keeps devices powered throughout the journey. Starlink Wi-Fi will be installed fleet-wide, ensuring reliable internet for passengers on all routes.

Fleet Modernisation at Scale

Emirates has steadily expanded its retrofit programme since 2021, with 219 aircraft now scheduled for refurbishment. Each A380 takes roughly 22 days, and each 777 about 18 days, with two refurbished planes entering service each month. This coordinated effort ensures that passengers can enjoy a consistent, modern travel experience across the airline’s global network.
