Emirates, the world's biggest international airline, has signed a deal with SailGP for the next five years. This makes Emirates the official airline sponsor of SailGP, a popular sailing race. This is the first time SailGP has had a special airline sponsor.
Emirates will keep its role as the main sponsor of the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix, which will happen in Dubai at Mina Rashid on November 23-24, 2024. This event is a big part of the SailGP calendar, and Emirates will help make it even more famous, bringing more people to Dubai. Emirates will also be the main sponsor of a new event for the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team in Portsmouth, UK, in July 2025. This will bring sailing back to the UK, exciting fans there.
SailGP is becoming a fast-growing sport, with 12 teams set to compete in 2025. The races will be held in well-known cities around the world, with at least 13 events planned. More fans are joining the sport every year, watching the races on TV and attending the events.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the boss of Emirates, said that both Emirates and SailGP want to bring sailing to more people around the world. This deal will help make the sport even more exciting for fans.

Sir Russell Coutts, the CEO of SailGP, is also excited about the deal with Emirates. He believes Emirates will help SailGP grow by bringing the sport to new audiences.
Through the deal, Emirates will be shown more in SailGP’s broadcasts, including new parts like the “Emirates Finish” and “Emirates Fly Time” that will appear in the upcoming season. Emirates will also work with SailGP to explain the sport’s rules better for fans.
Emirates will allow its passengers to watch SailGP races on the in-flight entertainment system, so they can enjoy the races while flying. The airline’s logo will be on SailGP’s high-tech boats and seen at race events, during prize presentations, and on team uniforms and equipment.
Emirates has supported sailing for many years. It has sponsored Emirates Team New Zealand, which has won the America’s Cup five times, and the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team. Emirates will keep supporting the Great Britain team for the next three years.
The Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix will take place on November 23-24, 2024, in Mina Rashid, Dubai. This will be the third time SailGP has raced in Dubai, and the second time with Emirates as the main sponsor. Tickets for the event are available at SailGP.com/Dubai.
Tickets for the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix in Portsmouth will go on sale soon, with pre-sale tickets on December 9, 2024, and general sale tickets on December 11, 2024.
This deal between Emirates and SailGP is a big step in growing the sport of sailing and making Dubai an even bigger part of the global sports scene.
