The ninth and penultimate round of the second edition of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup (EAHGC) took place yesterday in the Italian city of Verona. The event was held at the VeronaFiere Exhibition Centre, one of Italy’s most important venues for international exhibitions. This leg of the championship marked another milestone in the Cup’s journey across continents, celebrating the beauty and heritage of the Arabian horse and reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to preserving this treasured symbol of Arab culture.
The event was attended by Abdullah Ali Al Saboosi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Italy, and Mohammed Ahmed Al Harbi, Director General of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS) and Vice Chairman of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup Committee. Both officials participated in the crowning ceremony for the winners alongside a number of Italian officials, Arabian horse owners, and breeders. Their presence highlighted the UAE’s leadership in promoting Arabian equestrian culture on the global stage.
This round of the championship featured 98 magnificent horses representing around 72 owners from Italy and other participating countries. The competition included several categories such as yearling fillies and colts, 2- and 3-year-old horses, as well as senior mares and stallions. Over two days, the horses competed in qualifying rounds leading to the final championships, where the most outstanding horses were crowned with gold medals.
The final day of competition saw impressive performances across all divisions. In the Yearling Fillies Championship, “Pavala RA” won the gold medal for owner Czeslaw. “Sana OS,” owned by Lubochnia Arabians, took home the top prize in the Junior Fillies Championship. Meanwhile, “Siena Del Palazzo,” owned by Cannata Giuseppe Antonio, triumphed in the Senior Mares Category, earning the gold medal. Each of these winners showcased the elegance, strength, and refinement for which Arabian horses are world-renowned.
The male horse divisions were equally competitive and showcased some of the finest young and mature stallions. “Tofaan Sweetat” captured the gold medal in the Yearling Colts Championship for owner Mg Arabians S.N.C. In the Junior Colts Championship, “STY Elijah” won gold for owner Steylaers Giovanna. Rounding off the event, “Jasmin Z” earned first place in the Senior Stallions Championship, representing owner Angelo Pasi. The level of competition highlighted the dedication of breeders and owners to maintaining the purity and excellence of Arabian bloodlines.
The Emirates Arabian Horse Society emphasized that the Italian leg of the Global Cup is one of the key European stages of the tournament. It plays an important role in strengthening the event’s international recognition and fostering global appreciation for the Arabian horse. This European stop reinforces the UAE’s position as a global leader in promoting Arabian horse breeding, heritage, and excellence. The Society also noted that the event serves as a bridge between cultures, bringing together equestrian enthusiasts from different nations.
The Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup represents more than a series of competitions—it is a cultural initiative designed to preserve and promote the heritage of the Arabian horse. Through this championship, the UAE continues to share the values of pride, discipline, and tradition associated with these majestic animals. The event also encourages greater participation among breeders worldwide, ensuring that the Arabian horse remains a lasting emblem of beauty, endurance, and cultural identity.
The second edition of the EAHGC will conclude next month with the tenth and final round to be held in Kuwait. This final stop will mark the end of a successful journey that has spanned ten countries across several continents. The Global Cup’s tour demonstrates the UAE’s unwavering commitment to promoting authentic Arab heritage, nurturing equestrian excellence, and building stronger international connections through the sport of Arabian horse breeding.
The Italian leg of the championship coincided with the renowned Fieracavalli Exhibition, established in 1898 in Verona. The exhibition is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious equestrian events, combining sport, culture, tourism, and innovation. It attracts more than 700 exhibitors from 25 countries, representing various sectors such as horse breeding, equestrian equipment, rural tourism, and equine healthcare. The inclusion of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup within this event further elevated its profile and showcased the UAE’s growing influence in the international equestrian arena.
The Verona event once again underlined the UAE’s pivotal role in advancing equestrian sports worldwide. Through initiatives like the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup, the UAE continues to champion its cultural heritage, promote global sportsmanship, and inspire new generations to appreciate the deep bond between humans and horses. With the Cup’s final leg approaching, the UAE’s vision of uniting nations through the shared appreciation of Arabian horses stands stronger than ever.
