Elon Musk joined a talk about foreign workers in U.S. tech jobs. Some people say these workers take jobs from Americans. The discussion began when Amjad Masad, who leads a coding website called Replit, asked online if any skilled Americans really lost jobs because of foreign workers. Masad said he doubts this happens since there are many tech jobs still open.

Musk replied, saying Silicon Valley always needs more skilled engineers. He called it a “permanent problem” and said it slows down new ideas and growth. Musk thinks there are not enough talented workers, so foreign workers are important. Many tech experts agree, saying foreign talent helps fill the gap in areas like artificial intelligence and software.
The debate became bigger after Indian-American Sriram Krishnan got a top job in the U.S. government for artificial intelligence. Some people were happy about this, but others said foreign workers, especially on H-1B visas, are paid less and replace American workers.
Musk disagreed, calling this a “fixed pie” idea, which means thinking there are only so many jobs to share. He said there is no limit to creating new jobs and businesses. Musk explained that many jobs we have now didn’t exist 20 or 30 years ago. He believes we should focus on new ideas and growth instead of worrying about current jobs.
Musk’s views support teamwork and new ideas. He says using talent from all over the world can help solve problems, grow businesses, and create more jobs for everyone. This started a bigger discussion about how to balance fairness, growth, and the role of foreign workers in building a stronger economy.
