An elderly woman named Sushila Devi, aged 89 and a resident of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, sadly passed away on an IndiGo flight on Sunday night.

She started feeling unwell shortly after the flight took off from Mumbai and was on its way to Varanasi. Due to the medical emergency, the flight was diverted and made an emergency landing at Chikalthana Airport in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, around 10 pm.

By the time the flight landed and the airport medical team reached the plane, Sushila Devi had already passed away.

The airline stated that flight 6E-5028, operating from Mumbai to Varanasi, had to be diverted because of the health emergency on board. Despite efforts to help her quickly, she could not be saved and was declared dead.

The airline also said that it followed all standard safety procedures to ensure the safety of everyone on board. They also mentioned that they are staying in touch with the woman’s family and offering support in this difficult time.

After the required formalities were completed by the police, the flight resumed its journey to Varanasi. Sushila Devi’s body was sent to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Just a few days earlier, a similar tragic event happened on another flight. A passenger became unwell during travel and was found unconscious after the plane landed. He was given first aid and taken to a hospital in a special ambulance, but unfortunately, he also passed away. A fellow passenger said that doctors on board had checked him and found no pulse.

These recent incidents have raised concerns about health emergencies on flights, especially for older passengers.
