EKFC Launches Culinary Arts Apprenticeship with DCT

Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) has unveiled its first-ever Culinary Arts Apprenticeship Programme in collaboration with the Dubai College of Tourism (DCT), under the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). The initiative aims to equip aspiring chefs with foundational culinary skills through a combination of practical training and industry exposure.

The inaugural cohort, which began on 1 September, includes 15 apprentices from six countries—Philippines, Uganda, India, Nepal, Ghana, and Sri Lanka. The programme merges classroom instruction at DCT with hands-on experience in EKFC kitchens, ensuring participants gain both theoretical knowledge and real-world expertise. Successful candidates will earn a globally recognised Certificate III in Culinary Arts, endorsed by the UAE Ministry of Education.

EKFC views this programme as a strategic investment in developing a skilled talent pipeline to support future growth, particularly with the expansion plans at Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). The initiative also contributes to Dubai’s expanding gastronomic sector by nurturing qualified culinary professionals and addressing the industry’s skills gap.
