Connectivity and accessibility are top priorities in the development plans for the new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), slated to become the world's largest airport. Suzanne Al Anani, CEO of Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects, emphasized the need for efficient public transportation links to reduce reliance on private transport and minimize the project's carbon footprint.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed that Dubai Metro's Route 2020 will extend to DWC, ensuring easy access for passengers traveling to and from Dubai's city center. This extension aligns with the vision of Dubai South as an aerotropolis, providing efficient mobility for residents and supporting the estimated workforce of over a million people in the area.

The new terminal, with a projected cost of Dh128 billion, will be five times the size of DXB and feature five parallel runways, quadruple independent operation terminals, and four satellite concourses. An uninterrupted automated people mover system and integrated landside transport hub will enhance passenger experience and connectivity within the airport.
Dubai Metro, recognized as the world's longest driverless metro network, continues to expand, with the Blue Line extension set for completion by 2029. This expansion aligns with Dubai's 2040 Urban Master Plan, aiming to create a '20-minute city' where essential services are accessible within a 20-minute journey time.
The integration of Dubai Metro with DWC underscores Dubai's commitment to sustainable urban development and reinforces its position as a global transportation hub.
