Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Badr Abdel Atty, recently engaged in an in-depth phone conversation with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdurrahman Al Thani, discussing a range of significant issues aimed at strengthening bilateral and regional stability.
During the call, the two leaders reviewed the evolving relationship between Egypt and Qatar, covering a broad spectrum of political, economic, and investment initiatives that offer new avenues for cooperation. Both Abdel Atty and Al Thani underscored the importance of enhancing their countries' strategic partnerships to address common interests and capitalize on mutual benefits. They discussed potential areas of development, recognizing the economic synergy and diplomatic ties that bind the two nations.

High on the agenda was the dire humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories, where immediate access to aid has become essential amid escalating tensions. Abdel Atty and Al Thani shared insights on how best to expedite the provision of humanitarian aid to those in need, agreeing on the urgency of collective efforts to mitigate the suffering. Both diplomats emphasized the significance of a coordinated response from Arab and international communities to ease the plight of Palestinians and minimize the risk of further regional escalation.
The crisis in Lebanon was also a focal point of the discussion. Abdel Atty and Al Thani stressed the pressing need for a ceasefire in Lebanon and reiterated the importance of delivering continued humanitarian support to the Lebanese people. They recognized the critical role of Lebanon’s national institutions in addressing the crisis, pointing to the necessity of effective governance that can meet the demands of its citizens. Both officials acknowledged the complex nature of the crisis and expressed readiness to work with the international community in a coordinated approach to aid Lebanon’s recovery efforts.
This high-level dialogue reaffirms the commitment of Egypt and Qatar to a diplomatic approach in addressing pressing Middle Eastern crises. Both nations see collaborative diplomacy as key to fostering peace and stability across the region and have shown willingness to actively support humanitarian initiatives and stability-focused diplomacy. The conversation reflects the resolve of Egypt and Qatar to work together toward a more stable and cooperative Middle East, underpinned by their shared political, economic, and humanitarian objectives.
