Dubai International Airport (DXB) has been recognized for its outstanding efforts in reducing carbon emissions, earning the prestigious Level 4 "Transformation" accreditation from Airports Council International's (ACI) Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program. This achievement places DXB among the top 5% of participating airports worldwide.

The "Transformation" certification is awarded to airports that demonstrate absolute emissions reductions and drive systemic change with stakeholders. Dubai Airports' commitment to minimizing environmental impact and enhancing operational efficiency aligns with the UAE's Net Zero 2050 strategy.

Dubai Airports has made significant strides through key initiatives and partnerships aimed at advancing sustainable aviation. Recently, the airport collaborated with dnata and Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) to transition dnata's non-electric airside fleet to biodiesel, reducing carbon emissions by over 3,500 tonnes annually.

Additionally, Dubai Airports has partnered with Etihad Energy Services to enhance energy efficiency through building and lighting retrofit and solar integration. A collaboration with BEEAH Group has reduced landfill waste by 60% through an innovative food waste treatment plan. The adoption of the "Follow the Greens" system has optimized aircraft taxiing, cutting fuel consumption and emissions.

The recently launched oneDXB Sustainability Alliance, a network of airport partners, is driving sustainability by exploring over 180 potential decarbonization projects. Dubai Airports is also actively engaged with "Airports of Tomorrow," a collaborative venture by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and ACI, aimed at steering the aviation industry toward net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, stated, "Achieving Level 4 'Transformation' accreditation underscores our commitment to embedding sustainability at the core of everything we do. This recognition highlights our progress in reducing our carbon footprint and reflects the strength of our partnerships in driving systemic change."

Stefano Baronci, Director General of ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, congratulated Dubai Airports, saying, "DXB sets a benchmark for airports in the region, demonstrating a strong commitment to building a more sustainable future."

The Level 4 ACI Accreditation solidifies Dubai Airports' leadership in sustainability, positioning DXB as a benchmark in the global airport community.
