Dubai is building a huge new bridge that will make travel easier between Bur Dubai and the Dubai Islands. This important project costs AED 786 million and is part of a larger plan to improve roads and transportation across the city. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is working with Dubai Holding to make this happen.
What’s Being Built?
A new bridge will be 1,425 meters long (that’s about 14 football fields!)
It will have four lanes in each direction
It can handle up to 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions
The bridge will be 18.5 meters high above Dubai Creek so that boats can pass easily
The waterway under the bridge will be 75 meters wide
A special path for cyclists and pedestrians will be added along the bridge, with elevators to make it easy for people to go up and down
Around 2,000 meters of road will be added on both sides to connect the bridge with existing roads
This new bridge will sit between the Infinity Bridge and Port Rashid area. It will help make travel smoother and faster for everyone—residents and visitors alike.

What Did the RTA Say?
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, head of the RTA, said this project is very important because it supports the growing number of people living in and visiting Dubai. It will improve traffic flow and connect major places more easily.
This is not the first time RTA and Dubai Holding have worked together. Back in 2020, they built three other bridges that helped vehicles move freely between Dubai Islands and Al Khaleej Street.
Part of a Bigger Plan
This new bridge is a big part of the Al Shindagha Corridor Development Project. It’s one of the RTA’s biggest projects. This corridor will stretch over 13 kilometers and include 15 intersections. It connects key areas like Deira, Bur Dubai, Dubai Maritime City, Port Rashid, and Dubai Islands.
Once it’s done, travel time across the area will drop from 104 minutes to just 16 minutes. That’s a huge time-saver! The project is also expected to help around one million people and save AED 45 billion over the next 20 years.
What Did Dubai Holding Say?
Amit Kaushal, CEO of Dubai Holding, said they are proud to be part of this partnership. He said the project will help create smarter, well-connected communities and will make it easier for people to move around.
What’s Coming Next?
This new bridge is just one part of a larger AED 6 billion agreement between RTA and Dubai Holding. The agreement includes improvements in 15 areas, including:
Jumeirah Village Triangle (JVT)
Palm Beach Towers
Al Furjan
Jumeirah Park
Arjan
Majan
Liwan Phase 1
Nad Al Hamar
Villanova
Serena
And even more work will be done in five other major areas:
Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), Dubai Production City, Business Bay, Palm Jumeirah, and International City Phase 3.
For example:
JVC will get four new entry/exit points and flyovers to double road capacity and reduce traffic time by 70%
Dubai Production City will get new bridges from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, cutting travel time by 50%
Business Bay will have new pedestrian bridges and better road surfaces to separate people and cars
Palm Jumeirah will have six spots upgraded with better lanes and two new pedestrian bridges, cutting travel time by 40%
International City Phase 3 will get better roads, new lanes, and signal-based intersections to cut travel time from 15 minutes to just 5 minutes
This new bridge and the many other improvements show how Dubai is always working to make life easier, faster, and safer for its people. The city is building for the future—one road at a time.
